Prairie Rain Harvester

About Prairie Rain Harvester, Inc.

At Prairie Rain Harvester, Inc. we are deeply concerned about our changing environment, so we strive to make a product that will help people live more environmentally friendly lives. While similar products can be found in catalogs, the expensive shipping charges keep them out of reach for many area families. Our goal is to make a product that is both affordable and earth friendly by using recycled / reused parts whenever possible, sourcing our materials locally, and recycling as much of our manufacturing waste as possible.

Prairie Rain Harvester, Inc. was founded in 2008 by Austin and Sarah Grammer after a successful season selling their recycled rain barrels at the Urbana, Illinois "Market at the Square" Farmers' Market. Austin and Sarah partnered with the Illinois Lieutenant Governor's office on his statewide rain barrel initiative and also enjoyed working with Prairie Rivers Network, a statewide nonprofit organization devoted to keeping our rivers and streams clean. They also volunteered at an area school to educate young Illinoisans on the benefits of rainwater conservation. Seeing a need for their affordable, high quality rain barrels throughout Illinois, the Grammers drew upon their business consulting and marketing experience to launch Prairie Rain Harvester, Inc.

Austin Grammer

Austin Grammer, a life long resident of the Champaign area, is a graduate of the Southern Illinois University College of Communications. He has worked as a business consultant and sales trainer for multiple consumer products companies, traveling throughout Central and Southern Illinois and Eastern Iowa. During his many hours behind the wheel, Austin enjoyed watching the seasons change in the farm fields from planting to harvest and seeing the occasional natural prairie. It was his desire to start a family and get closer to the land that led him down the path to starting his own business.

Sarah Grammer

Sarah Grammer, also an Illinois native, holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration from Franklin University of Ohio. She started her career in education and development at an area hospital and most recently worked as a business analyst for a international CRM firm.
